Go-Go Bag

If you have ever had to evacuate your home, you know that staying in a shelter is not at all easy. Even staying with friends can be challenging. Beyond enduring the inconvenience, you may be sleeping in a smaller bed, eating unappealing foods (like pickled herring), and coping with less than desirable sanitary conditions. For sure, communal living—even with your dearest friends—can put your patience to the test.

That’s because all you really want is to be home, surrounded by your things, familiar smells, and your family (well, maybe not in that order). So it’s not a bad idea to include in your go-bag a few comforts from home to help you keep your sanity. For me, being able to maintain my chemical-free life is very important. So I added a few extra items to my go-bag that will help my family and me do just that.

But can you really go chemical-free even in an emergency? I am thrilled to be able to say, Yes! Young Living has some amazing travel-sized items that fit perfectly into my go-bag that help me maintain my chemical-free lifestyle—even in a pinch.

The Bon Voyage Travel Pack is a great idea for your go-bag. I love this kit because it has everything I need. It includes:
Thieves AromaBright Toothpaste; Thieves Waterless Hand Purifier; Thieves Dental Floss; Thieves Fresh Essence Plus Mouthwash; Young Living Toothbrush;
Lavender Shampoo; Lavender Conditioner; Cinnamint Lip Balm; Morning Start Bath & Shower Gel; Genesis Hand & Body Lotion; ART Light Moisturizer.

While I normally don’t use shampoo, I don’t know what situation I might find myself in if I’m forced to evacuate. So it’s not a bad idea to have an all-natural shampoo/conditioner as an option, just in case.

Here are a couple of other options if you only have room for a few things and not the whole travel pack.

Thieves Waterless Hand Purifier
One bottle of this hand purifier already comes in the travel pack. However, one bottle is not enough for me. So I get the purifier in a 3-pack, that would give me four bottles—two for my go-bag and two for Judah’s. What makes this sanitizer different from other waterless hand purifiers?

Most commercial sanitizers use Ethyl or Isopropyl Alcohol—neither one is ingestable. But the ingredients in the Thieves hand purifier are safe to put on your skin and to ingest—that’s because they are plant-derived. Not that I recommend eating or drinking it, but it’s a comfort to know that what I put on my skin will kill the bacteria and not me.

Thieves Spray
This little bottle of sanitizer is super convenient. You can throw it in your purse or go-bag. It’s perfect for freshening up whatever space I find myself in. I love using this on touch-areas in public places—bathrooms, airplanes, even shopping carts—so I definitely want to make sure that both Judah and I have one in our go-bags.

However, if you would prefer a wipe over a spray, Young Living also has Thieves Wipes. These are great for any surface that needs to be cleaned.

In addition to these items, you may also want to make sure you have some sample packets of Thieves Household Cleaner, as well as your favorite essential oils. My go-to oils in my go-bag are Lavender and Clarity.

Compared to having enough water or food, these items are small by comparison. But I think it’s important to keep with you a few little comforts that remind you of home in case of an emergency. They won’t take away the stress of evacuating, but they will make the experience just a little more bearable. For me, it’s just a little extra peace of mind knowing that I can stay chemical-free no matter where I am.

I’m really happy to be a part of a company that is so committed to the purity and power of essential oils. Would you like to experience what Young Living can do for you? Then join me!
